| Benefits
|
The Hotwork Combustion Technology single-ended radiant tube incorporates a self-recuperative burner which has been designed for delayed mixing and progressive combustion to produce a highly radiant diffusion flame.
This ensures uniform and high heat transfer to the outer surface of the tube and as a consequence even temperature distribution inside the furnace. The products of combustion exhaust through the integral heat exchanger which in turn preheats incoming combustion air, thus achieving high fuel efficiencies of up to 70%. The process of heat recovery reduces the amount of fuel required by as much as 35%.
Self-recuperative Radiant Tubes are ideal for converting electrically heated furnaces to gas firing as they are more robust than electric elements, cheaper to operate and can be replaced individually with little or no loss of production.
They also provide a cost-effective solution to open-ended cold air radiant tubes since the heat is distributed more evenly inside the tube, resulting in prolonged tube life, improved temperature uniformity inside the furnace, better fuel efficiency.

| Tube lenght |
Generally, standard tube lengths are from 24" (610 mm) to 72" (1830 mm) in increments of 12" (304 mm), although any length may be obtained within these limits. |
Fuels, ignition and flame supervision
|
The RT radiant tube burner is suitable for operation with natural gas and LPG and is ignited by means of direct spark. The burner is fitted with a sight glass and a port is provided for a UV scanner to be installed. In order to start the burner automatically and supervise the flame permanently, Hotwork Combustion Technology can also supply flame management equipment if required. |
Thermal rating
|
The maximum rating of the self-recuperative burner is 75 kW but specific ratings are set for individual burners to suit tube length and diameter and furnace heating requirements. Turndowns of 10/1 are achievable. |
| Extended recuperator version |
In order to improve fuel efficiency even further, the Hotwork Combustion Technology radiant tube can be designed to accommodate a longer recuperator in order to recover a higher proportion of the heat available in the waste gases, taking the efficiency to higher than 70%. This version is only available for tube diameter 6½" (165 mm) and is designated RTS6. |

Data Required from Customer
Enquiries regarding the application of radiant tubes should provide the following:
1. Whether the tubes are to fire either horizontally or vertically downwards;
2. The length of the tube, together with the casing and wall or roof thickness;
3. The furnace operating temperature;
4. The type and C.V. of the fuel to be used. |
