| Overview |
Sealed Quench Furnaces may undertake most metallurgical processes ranging from carburising, nitro-carburising, hardening, carbonitriding and in fact most processes which require a protective atmosphere.
A sealed quench furnace, as the name suggests, provides for quenching under a protective atmosphere, i.e. sealed from the outside environment during the quenching process. The furnace comprises main heating chamber, inlet vestibule, oil quench tank and upper slow cool chamber.
The latter provision of the upper slow cool chamber provides for an increase in throughput capacity when through hardening at some 40% when compared with our competitors units. The units illustrated were recently supplied to a company in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, for processing of gear components.
Companion equipment includes tempering furnace, washing machine, loading tables and traversing type, charging machine. With the provision of a traversing type charging machine a single operator can control a complete line of 4 sealed quench furnaces, 2 tempering furnaces, 2 washing machines. |
